The Bright Minds, Fresh Ideas Student Think Tank is a team-based, project-based Summer Internship initiative piloted in 2018, Powered by FPP Coalition. This initiative is guided by a partnership between Orange County Public Schools (OCPS), Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS), Osceola County Public Schools, and CareerSource Central Florida, and is generously supported by SouthState Bank.
What Do the BMFITT Summer Interns Do?
The Bright Minds, Fresh Ideas Think Tank Summer Internship develops rising professionals ages 15-19 to become better prepared for their careers and earning lives by focusing on the four developmental pillars of Leadership, Professionalism, Entrepreneurship, and Financial Capability (personal and business).
While developing in these critical capacities, the Interns are challenged through their development of a Social Entrepreneurship Business Plan to address societal and social issues directly affecting low- to moderate-income individuals, families, households, and communities across Florida and beyond.
In What Ways are the BMFITT Summer Interns Supported in Their Development?
Summer Intern Project Teams are supported by a solid structure of professionals who guide the five-week BMFITT experience. Each Project Team is provided a Cohort Lead, a “near-peer” who offers support and accountability in their professional development journey.
Project Teams are also connected with professionals from across and beyond Florida who serve as Project Mentors, Project Experts, and Guest Experts. Each of these roles enriches the Internship experience through frequent virtual and live connections, resulting in relationship-building, broader insights on project topic focus areas, and a finer-honed Social Entrepreneurship Business Plan “pitch” at the BMFITT End-of-Summer Symposium.
